5Great MODELJun 29, 2011

This is an awesome model! It comes in pieces of course, and you have to paint it. These were my first 1/35 wwii soldiers. They are just the right size! They are big enough to paint on eyebrows easily and small enough to be smaller than 5" trees! The one standing and throwing the grenade is almost exactly 2" tall. They are so durable that I dropped one AFTER I finished it and it didn't budge! You need a good glue. All the pieces fit perfectly! It comes with about 6 grenades, 2 backpacks, 1 flame thrower, 4 guys, 2-3 knives, 1-2 shovels, 2 m1 carbines, 2 m1 garands, 1 thompson, 1 m3 grease gun, and 1 BAR. Tamiya is an awesome modeling company!!!

Bought for my nine year old son. He was overwhelmed with putting the men together. This would be great foe an active model builder. Great price and fast shipping

4Older Tamiya KitsJun 24, 2011

This in my opinion is a great starter kit for younger modellers that want to get busy painting and detailing figures before moving onto more complex figure kits. This is one of Tamiya's first figure kits and does not move into the higher levels of skill that I work in, i.e. Dragon Models WW2 series with swapping arms, legs, and even heads for better figures. Even today's Tamiya figures are switchable with others for highly detailed figure displays.
Caution: this is a kit, not plastic one piece soldiers but they are a good beginning and only that. The molding is ancient by today's standards, the finer details simply do not exist and the weapon details lack any realism. Keep this kit for the 8 yr old that wants army men, they are good for that reason.1/35 German Assault Troopswould be a good "enemy force, along with the much older Tamiya 1/35 German Hanomag SdKfz The troops that come with the vehicle are good for the "enemy" as well.

The best to all beginners, and please be sure to view my gallery for ideas.
