Revell 1/48 F-105G Thunderbird Wild Weasel
|CHOKING HAZARD -- Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.|
Detailed 1/48 scale model kit of the Republic F-105 Thunderchief, a supersonic fighter-bomber used extensively by the United States Air Force for bombing missions over North Vietnam during the early stages of the Vietnam War. Introduced in 1958 and commonly called the "Thud" by its crews, the F-105 was originally designed as a high-speed low-level bomber capable of carrying a single nuclear bomb in its internal bomb bay. Fortunately, the F-105's nuclear strike capability was never realized, but the "Thud" did evolve into a effective strike-bomber during the Vietnam War. A two-seat Wild Weasel F-105 variant was later developed for use in the specialized Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) role against surface-to-air missile sites. Over 800 F-105s were produced and the type remained in service until the mid 1980's. This nicely detailed 1/48 scale model kit features the F-105G two-seat Wild Weasel SEAD version with 104 parts. Detailed cockpit with seats and instrument panel. Highly detailed exhaust tail pipe with separate panels. Detailed landing gear. Centerline drop tank. One AGM-45 "Shrike" guided missile. One AGM-78 "HARM" guided missile. Super decal sheet for 2 USAF versions.

Ultimate boxing of the old Monogram kit!Dec 15, 2007
By A. Granata
Yes, this is just a reboxing of the old Monogram-Revell F-105G, which has always been an excellent kit and rather easy build. But the decal sheet included with the kit is outstanding, filled with all the data markings that were missing from those earlier boxings. I had a difficult time choosing which markings to use! Also, several photos I've seen have led me to believe the Standard missile and fuel tank should be on opposite wings from what the instructions suggest, but I could be wrong.
